Biography
Flora Ortega is a Production Designer and Art Director based in Los Angeles. She is a member of the Art Directors Guild, IATSE Local 800. She has designed feature films, television series, commercials, and music videos. She has collaborated with companies such as Disney, Warner Brothers, and Activision Blizzard. Her commercial work includes clients such as Old Spice, Airbnb, Scope, and Hasbro.
Flora recently designed her first feature film project as a member of the Art Director’s Guild, God’s Country, a neo-western thriller which had its world premiere at the 2022 Sundance Film Festival. Julian Higgins directed the film and Westworld, Emmy-winning actress Thandiwe Newton headlines the film. Newton plays a grieving college professor who confronts two hunters she catches trespassing on her property, triggering a battle of wills with dangerous ramifications. Cold Iron Pictures and the Film Arcade produced the film.
Flora’s debut feature Outsiders, a sci-fi thriller, premiered at Tribeca Film Festival in 2021. The film follows a high school student, Jaylen Brown (Skylan Brooks), who finds himself under suspicion after his classmate’s mysterious disappearance. He unravels a web of secrets that all point to otherworldly forces at play. The film was acquired by Vertical Entertainment for release in the Spring of 2022.
